With Seafest 2023 on the horizon; Prince Rupert Special Events Society releases schedule of events for next weekend's three days of fun

The most anticipated event of the summer for Prince Rupert residents is just over a week away and as the Special Events Society puts the final touches to their planning for the three days of fun ahead, they have released the jam packed schedule of events.

The program for the 45th edition of Seafest highlights the theme for this year of Under the Sea and includes a range of new events to go along with some of the Seafest traditions.

The three days of fun get off to start on Friday with just a few events which include the Annual Seafest Senior Tea at the Highliner Plaza Hotel.

Saturday is by far the busiest of the days for fun on the Streets of the City, the main event that of the popular Seafest Parade which will transit the downtown area from 11 AM to 1 PM.

The majority of the Saturday events can be found along the Third Avenue area which will be closed to traffic for much of the day.

Sunday the focus shifts to the Cow Bay/Atlin Terminal area for a number of events to bring the Festival to a close.

Seafest weekend will also bring some road closures as events move forward.

The Prince Rupert Special Events Society outlined those plans yesterday through their Social Media stream, providing a map to give you a chance for some advance planning and some advance warning.

Next week we'll dig a bit deeper into some of the events planned for Seafest weekend.

For now, as the countdown to the festival continues, follow the Prince Rupert Special Events Social Media stream for any updates as Seafest weekend gets closer.
