The first week of the Fall Session was a busy one one for participation of two of three members for the Northwest.
The week one of discussion on health care themes and debate on Bill 31 for both Skeena MLA Ellis Ross and North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice.
The Fall session also brought added focus on the work of the BC Conservative Party, it reached official status over the summer through a defection from the BC United party and this week offered their leader and Abbotsford MLA Bruce Banman both opportunities to speak to issues.
One of which proved to be a contentious period of debate in the Legislature.
The BC Government also has proposed changes to its recent legislation on the Open use of drugs in public spaces, seeking to make that an issue subject to law enforcement action.
The results of a Province wide Homeless count from the Spring were released in a report this week, with the numbers of those in need of a home on the rise in Prince Rupert and much of the Northwest
The provincial ferry service also was in the news a few times this week, with the government noting of its plans to improve service, while the Ferry Corporation made a number of changes an hirings for the year ahead.

On the week, Ms Rice was mentioned twice for the week in the Legislature from October 3-6, 2023.
On Wednesday afternoon, Ms. Rice spoke to the recent announcement related to travel assistance for those requiring cancer care away from their homes.
Thursday afternoon the MLA participated in the Legislature debate on Bill 31, which is related to changes to how the Province addresses Emergency Management in BC.
The North Coast MLA is also a member of the Following committees:
The MLA Is also Deputy Chair of the Select Standing Committee on Public Accounts
Ms. Rice serves as the Government's Parliamentary Secretary for Rural health.
The North Coast MLA also addressed a range of themes and relayed a number of government announcements through her Social Media Stream.

For our readers from the Terrace-Kitimat region, Skeena MLA Ellis Ross was mentioned theee times in the record for the week in the Legislature from October 3-6, 2023.
In the Wednesday afternoon Session, the MLA shared word of successful fundraising for the addition of a CT Machine for the Kitimat Hospital.
Thursday morning the MLA raised concerns on the topic of Emergency Room care in the province.
Thursday he was one of the lead BC United MLA's to take part in the debate on the provincial government's plans for Bill 31 - related to Emergency Management issues in the province.
Mr. Ross serves as the BC United critic on LNG and Energy
The Skeena MLA has not been named to any of the Standing Committees for this session.
The Skeena MLA also addressed a range of themes featured as part of the MLA's social media work.

For our readers from the Bulkley Valley area, Stikine MLA Nathan Cullen was not mentioned once in the record for the week in the Legislature from October 3-6, 2023.
The Stikine MLA is not currently assigned to any Parliamentary Committees.
Mr. Cullen serves as the Government's Minister of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship.
The MLA did have numerous appearances over the last four days related to the work of his Ministerial duties.
Mr. Cullen was also among a number of NDP members to comment on the success of Wab Kinew in the Manitoba election, with the NDP opposition leader in that province winning the vote and set to become th next premier for the prairie province.
