Blog Watching: Week ending October 8, 2023

A couple of civic themes top our list of the five most read items for the week, with our look at the lack of progress on two properties listed for civic action gaining the most readers of the week.

It was followed by some additional notes from the city related to plans for artwork for the new RCMP detachment downtown.

Our week also included a look at how a potash facility development in Saskatchewan reminds us of a once highly touted terminal proposal for the city' industrial base.

How the results of the Metlakatla election mean that a current city councillor will continue on with his work in Prince Rupert and a return for mask use at health facilities also rounded out our list of five for the week.

The top story of the week takes us on a tour of Second and Third Avenue West and a pair of still unfilled civic remediation orders.

Still Standing ... little progress to see from Remediation orders for two fire ravaged structures in Prince Rupert -- Any hopes from the summer that two structures from past fires would soon be addressed seem to be unlikely heading into the fall.    (posted October 6 , 2023

Could those Potash Terminal plans for Prince Rupert get dusted off -- Work on a new potash facility in Saskatchewan serves as a reminder that Potash was once the talk of the city over a decade ago and there may yet one day be space in the industrial footprint for another proposal.   (posted October 3, 2023

City Councillor Reid Skelton-Morven comes up short in quest for Chief Councillor post in Metlakatla   -- With the results of the September 30th vote released, Metlakatla has a new Governing Council in place bringing the quest for the top post from current Prince Rupert City Councillor Reid Skelton-Morven to an end.   (posted October  3, 2023
