RCMP still looking for leads in 2012 Kitikatla Fire

It's a case that goes back to December 22nd of 2012, a fire later determined to be suspicious in nature at the Kitkatla Band Office and while more than seven months have gone by, the Prince Rupert RCMP is still seeking information from the public on the fire.

In a press release from late July, the RCMP acknowledged that while few leads have been generated, the investigation continues and remains an active priority for the Coastal Unit.

Towards furthering their investigation, the RCMP has once again called on the public both in Kitkatla and in Prince Rupert, to provide any information that they may have to assist in that investigation.

The fire of December 22nd was quickly put out by the Kitkatla Fire Department, however upon a post fire inspection by the Prince Rupert Fired Department, it was determined that the fire had started on the exterior of the building and that an accelerant had been used.

If anyone has any information they are asked to contact the Prince Rupert RCMP at 250-627-0700 or through CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

You can review details of the case file from the Prince Rupert RCMP from this link.
