NWCC to receive provincial funding for Trades Training Equipment

Northwest Community College will be breaking out some new training equipment in the months ahead, after receiving word of $171,428 in provincial funding for in demand trade occupations that are taught at the various campus locations for the college.

The funding is part of the Province of British Columbia's Skills for Jobs Blueprint, and is directed towards 18 eligible trades training programs in post secondary institutions.

For Northwest Community college, the funding offers up the opportunity to keep up to industry and curriculum standards. Some of the funding will be directed towards such items as electrical training boards for electrical students and a low-bed trailer for the heavy mechanic program.

“This funding will help Northwest Community College build on our valuable trades training program that sees students hired in a range of sectors including mining and oil and gas. The ongoing investments in trades by government will help us provide programs in our region that meet the needs of our learners and industry.” -- Northwest Community College President Ken Burt
