Carnival time arrives for the North Coast

The Midway opens Friday at 3 PM as
West Coast Amusements arrives
in town for their annual visit
The Jim Ciccone Civic Centre is about to see a bit of a transformation for the next few days, as the Big Rigs of the West Coast Carnival begin to arrive in town, setting up at key locations at the McBride Street grounds in preparation for the start of the Carnival this weekend.

The annual spring ritual is set for its Opening Day on Friday at 3 PM and from that point until late into the afternoon on Sunday, the Civic Centre parking lot will be turned into the Midway, where the rides and food of the carnival will provide the backdrop for one of Prince Rupert's popular social events.

The Carnival will open on Saturday and Sunday at Noon each day, with the tear down and departure for another year set for Sunday evening.

The travelling city has been spending the last week in the Northwest with stops in Terrace last weekend and a midweek journey to Kitimat part of the tour which ends in Prince Rupert this weekend.

The attractions of the midway range from something for the littlest in the family, to something for the bravest to enjoy. When it comes to rides, many of the old favourites will be back to tempt the fears of locals, while regular Carnival goers will be looking to see if WCA has anything new for Prince Rupert to take on when it comes to the thrills of the midway.

Coupons for midway attractions can be found in the weekly paper, carnival goers can exchange theme for tickets for rides or all day wristbands when they arrive at the Civic Centre.

You can learn more about West Coast Amusements from their website, included in the overview is a look at some of the rides that they offer during their travels from community to community.
