North Coast NDP to host AGM on May 14th

Members of the North Coast NDP
will meet May 14th at their
annual constituency AGM
Local members of the North Coast Constituency Association of the British Columbia NDP will be meeting next Saturday afternoon, ready to make plans for the 2017 provincial election and to vote on resolutions of local interest as part of the annual gathering.

Members in good standing can make their voices heard through the voting process at Prince Rupert's Fisherman's Hall on Fraser Street at the May 14th event which starts at 2 PM.

With a provincial election year now less than one year away, the local NDP membership will be looking to ensure that their concerns are outlined for incumbent MLA Jennifer Rice, who has represented the riding at the Legislature since her election to office in May of 2013.

One item that the local constituency doesn't seem to have to deal with is the selection of a candidate for the 2017 election. While she hasn't confirmed her intent to seek re-election next year, all indications would seem to suggest that Ms. Rice will be looking for a return to Victoria when BC goes to the polls next year.

Down the road in Terrace however a new face will be standing for election when the balloting takes place, current MLA Robin Austin has announced that he will not be seeking re-election next year.

That sets the stage for the Skeena NDP to launch its process to seek a replacement for the long time MLA who was first nominated by the party in 2004 and elected MLA in 2005.
