Seafest preparations in full swing as June event draws closer

There are some early signs of Seafest Fever starting to break out around Prince Rupert and the North Coast, that as the annual launch of the summer season gets closer to Seafest Weekend of June 10-12.

This years theme is Gumboots and Raindrops and marks the 38th Annual edition of the popular festival that takes over the downtown area on 3rd Avenue on the Saturday and shifts to the Rotary Waterfront Park on Sunday.

As we noted last week on the blog, the finishing touches are already in motion for the Annual Seniors Tea, the event which traditionally provides the kick off to the Seafest weekend.

The three day festival is not only popular with local residents but proves to be a fairly important draw from across Northwest BC and Haida Gwaii each year.

And while the full calendar has yet to be published by Prince Rupert's Special Events Society, some of the old favourites are currently in the process of taking applications for competitors for this years list of events.

Those with an interest in participating in this years Seafest Parade have until June 8th to advise organizers of their plans, you can learn more about the Parade rules and regulations here
