In the end, the team that had played the most hockey proved to be the one to claim the British Columbia Senior Men's championship and custody of the Coy Cup.
The Dawson Creek Canucks, who had only completed their play in the North Peace Hockey League in the week prior to the Coy Cup, made use of those still in top shape skating legs to push their way past the three other competitors during the BC Senior men's tournament of last week.
For the Championship game, the Canucks faced off against their rivals in the Peace Country and hosts in the tournament of Fort St. John.
Besting the home side by a score of 4-2, repeating as Coy Cup champs after last years success in Williams Lake in an entertaining game in front of a sold out crowd.
The Canucks built up their momentum through the round robin portion of the tournament and then put the spike in the hopes of Williams Lake in Fridays semi final.
The Canucks opened the tournament with a convincing 8 to 2 victory over the Williams Lake
Stampeders and took a victory away from the Rampage topping the Rhinos with a 4-1 result.
The only loss Dawson Creek squad had was a Wednesday match up with the Flyers, with the Fort St. John team prevailing.
A victory over Williams Lake in the semi final set up the rematch with the Flyers, with the Canucks taking the play to the hosts to claim the championship.
The Rampage bowed out of the tourney with an 0-3 record in the preliminary round and were eliminated from the playoff semifinal.
