Terrace can lay claim to a title that no one probably wants ... status on the Orkin Rat List

"Welcome to Terrace the rattiest little ole city of the Northwest"

We suspect that you won't be seeing the above slogan on any of the entry signs to Terrace anytime soon ... and we suspect that city officials won't be too pleased at making their mark on the Orkin list of Rats for 2019, but a rat is a rat and apparently Terrace has more than a few of them.

The findings from the Pest Control company were released this week and the only entry from the Northwest came from our neighbours of ninety minutes away, far and away ahead of the count it seems when it comes to the annoying pests that make for misery for homeowners.

Terrace was listed as the 20th Rattiest Cities of the province, with the next nearest community with a rat problem apparently Kamloops, which will be welcome news for residents of Prince George who often find themselves on lists that they don't particularly like.

The majority of BC's rattiest locales is found in the Vancouver area and its suburbs

The full list from Number One to Twenty is as follows

5. Surrey

7. Kelowna

8. Duncan

9. Abbotsford

12. Nanaimo

13. Sidney

14. Kamloops

18. Port Moody

19. Port Coquitlam

20. Terrace

As part of their Program, Orkin has offered up some information for homeowners to make their properties more of a fortress against any incursions, as well as the options that the pest control company offers to get rid of them

Considering our status as a port city, it's somewhat surprising that Prince Rupert isn't found on the list of twenty, and if you do spot one of the interlopers on your property a call to the city's Operations Department is certainly the first thing that you should do. 

Judging by the frequency of Orkin vans that are seen darting across the city and pulling up at homes on both the east and west side, there clearly are some of the vermin calling our town home, though apparently just not enough of them to top Terrace.

And in this case, it's one of those times, Prince Rupert just won't mind finishing behind our neighbours to the East.
