Homicide investigation underway in Kitkatla

The North District Major Crime Unit has been called in to take control of an investigation in the North Coast community of Kitkatla.

That after members of the Prince Rupert detachment were called to attend an incidence of sudden death at a residence on Beach Street in the Gitxaala Nation community south of Prince Rupert.

An information release from the Prince Rupert RCMP outlines that the call for assistance came in on Monday evening at 8:11 PM, with frontline officers tasked to the investigation.

Upon arrival at the residence the Mounties discovered a 34 year old male with life threatening injuries,  the BCAS Medevac Helicopter from Prince Rupert attended with a medical team, however during that period the man succumbed to his injuries.





A person of interest was located at the scene and has been questioned by police, the North District Major Crimes Unit investigation is in its early stages and from their initial findings they note that the greater public is not  at any risk.
