Councillor calls for Bylaw enforcement to put the "Boot" to parking scofflaws at Rushbrook Floats

With the busy spring and summer season just ahead of us, Councillor Barry Cunningham has delivered his annual call for better parking law enforcement at the Rushbrook Floats parking areas both at the Floats and along George Hills Way and Dry dock Road.

Mr. Cunningham raised the issue at Monday's Council session, asking about how the city is looking to approach those out of town visitors that just take their parking tickets and throw them away, suggesting that the city investigate towing the offenders or consider the option of getting parking boots for  those that disregard the regulations that the city has in place for the area.

The parking issues of Rushbrook tend to make for one of the larger summer time irritants for residents of the community, who frequently find that out of town visitors have claimed much of the space and as Mr. Cunningham noted, at times choose to disregard the assessed fines that are in place.

"I know we've discussed the out of town people that  just take their parking tickets and throw them away, are we looking at getting a boot or boots or starting to tow?"

City Manager Robert Long observed that the City has a number of boots on order to address parking issues in the community.

The councillor also noted for council that the parking lot at Rushbrook requires some line painting for trucks and trailers and how the situation is becoming a gong show as visitors seek out their space for parking.
