64' Rainmakers move on in Fantasy BC High School Basketball bracket

After the first round of play, the 1964 Prince Rupert Secondary School Rainmakers are moving on in the tournament!!

The 64 Makers' are part of a Fantasy Bracket to celebrate the 75th anniversary of BC High School Basketball and they were deemed the better squad in their opening match of last Friday, moving ahead towards the next round after topping the 2018 Brentwood College team in the Friday polling.

As we outlined last week, the project was introduced through Howard Tsumara's Varsity Letters blog and is designed as a way to celebrate 75 years of British Columbia High School Basketball and shout out to the greatest teams of the past.

The Rainmakers of 64 were the only Northwest team to make the cut of the 64 chosen as Fantasy Basketball icons.

The project of course has spurred on some great debate across the province as hoops fans make note of the teams that didn't make the final cut for the showdown that leads up to this years High School Championships.

And indeed there is a case for any number of teams to make, including last years Championship Charles Hays Rainmakers team, which many observers might note was one of the strongest to come out of the North in decades.

And that's the beauty of Fantasy Sports, the debate is almost as much fun to take in as the results.

A recap of the  64 Rainmakers 52-44 victory over Brentwood can be found here.

As for the next round ...  The 1964 Rainmakers have a matchup with the number one team in the Quadrant A bracket,  Nanaimo District of 1978.

The results of the polling and which team will move on to the Regional Semi Final will be released through the Varsity Letters blog.
