Rampage and River Kings ready to Rumble as CIHL playoffs continue tonight

Showdown time at the Jim tonight, as the Prince Rupert Rampage
open up Round Two of the CIHL playoffs
against the visiting Terrace River Kings

Round Two of the 2020 CIHL Playoffs gets underway tonight at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre, as the hometown Rampage take to the ice against their long time rivals the Terrace River Kings.

Tonight's 8PM puck drop marking the start of the Best of three game series to advance to the CIHL championship.

The Rhinos head into tonight's ice breaker after a hard fought (literally) three game series with the Hazelton Wolverines, the Hazelton team making its return to CIHL action this year a memorable one with a strong surge in the back end of the regular season and some tough nosed hockey in the playoffs giving the Rampage all they could handle over the course of the three games.

Terrace, which finished atop the CIHL with a late season run dispatched the Kitimat Ice Demons in two straight games to advance to Round Two this week.

The two teams went head to head three times in the Regular Season, two of the three match ups fairly close affairs, while the third and pivotal game to secure first place went to the River Kings in a convincing 10-5 victory.

But the past is the past and with a shot at the Coy Cup up for grabs, the Rampage will have much to focus on as they take to the ice in front of what should be another jam packed and noisy madhouse on McBride.

Tonight's puck drop at 8 PM also offers a chance for some of the Rampage's younger fans to put their artwork on display, with the team offering free admission to those youth who bring their posters and signs to the Jim for tonights showdown.

More pregame notes can be found from the Rampage Facebook page.

Games Two and if necessary Three are set for the Terrace Ice Arena on Saturday and Sunday.
