Free Autism Workshop for Saturday to help inform parents on supports available



Parents and guardians of children with autism can learn more about the condition and supports available as part of a Free workshop planned for this Saturday the 22nd at the Highliner Plaza.

The session which is hosted by Autism BC takes place in the Metlakatla Room of the Highliner from 1 to 4 PM and is designed for those who are currently waiting for an Assessment.

As part of the three hour event participants will be able to access basic information about autism ans well as some background on how to prepare for an autism assessment and what families can do while they wait.

Those on hand will also hear of the pros and cons between private and public assessments and diagnosis, what you can expect at the assessment and following a diagnosis, as well as tips on coping strategies, how to talk with your family and friends about autism.

The session will also feature a Question and Answer Period with a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst.

It also will serve as an opportunity to  meet with other parents and families in the region who are facing similar challenges in the Prince Rupert area.
