Basketball was the Sport of choice for the week as All Native Basketball tournament launched on Sunday and reached the pinnacle of the climb to the top for eight teams by Saturday afternoon.
The tournament a celebration of Indigenous Nations and the love of the game brought some great basketball and made the Russell Gamble Auditorium and Jim Ciccone Civic Centre Arena the gathering spot for local residents and visitors alike.
Through the week, our archive of notes and scoreboard features had some strong traffic of readership building as we approached the Saturday finales.
The ongoing dispute in the Wet'suwet'en territory made for the narrative both in Victoria and on the North Coast, with the theme dominating the political scene at the Legilsature and impacting on the operations of the Port in Prince Rupert.
This weeks City Council session made for a few stories of note as well, one topic that caught the interest of Councillor Barry Cunningham was to seek out some info on the Airport's work towards securing additional air service to the city.
However, the most read story of the week put the focus on the week-long celebration of basketball and community that is the All Native Basketball Tournament.

Wet'suwet'en protest issues dominate first Question Period for Spring session, with Skeena MLA Ellis Ross seeking clarity on role of Nathan Cullen -- The start of the Spring Session made for a rambunctious first day back for the Premier and his Ministers, with Skeena MLA Ellis Ross taking the lead on some of the questioning on the events in the Wet'suwet'een territory. Hazelton rail blockade impacting on Port of Prince Rupert operations -- With a protest blockade in support of the Hereditary Chiefs of Wet'suwet'en stopping rail traffic this week, Shaun Stevenson the President and CEO of the Port of Prince Rupert outlined the impact that the dispute is having on Port facilities. By Friday, the protest blockade had been lifted and port movements began to ramp up again. (posted February 12 , 2020)
