Update: most of the city had its power restored by 1:40 PM
For most residents of Prince Rupert the power blinked and turned off at 1 PM this afternoon, with the BC Hydro map reflecting the wide range of power interruption found in the region Monday.
The listings highlight the scope of the outage which ranges from the Galloway Rapids Bridge into and across the city as well as for the District of Port Edward. It's estimated that the outage is affecting more than 4,390 customers.
The cause of the outage is listed as a transmission circuit failure.
Some areas of the city did see the power come back by 1:10PM, while the Downtown region remained off the grid further into the afternoon.
