The earth rumbled just after the breakfast hour of the southwest coast of Haida Gwaii with a 4.7 magnitude earthquake recorded toward the Southwest tip of Lyell Island at 9:10 AM
The location is not near any populated areas and few reports have been noted to this point from the morning burst of moderate seismic activity.
The nearest community to the epicentre was Sandpit which is 60 miles North
Emergency Info BC has advised that there is no Tsunami threat.
The area south of Haida Gwaii has been active in seismic events in recent weeks.
