Mainly sunny skies with occasional cloudy breaks and warm temperatures have greeted visitors from the Holland America Line Cruise Ship Koningsdam which arrived early this morning to send their guests ashore around 8AM to explore what Prince Rupert has to offer.

By mid afternoon, most of the potential 2,106 visitors that ventured out, had fanned far from the Prince Rupert Cruise Terminal Dock to see what there is to see, with only a few returnees wandering the immediate area of the new Container Marketplace.

Others made their way to the Atlin Terminal and Cow Bay Dock area, some using the locations as a photo shoot backdrop, while others ducked in and out of the stores and services in the Terminal building and Cow Bay Area.

The Koningdsam's time in Prince Rupert comes to a close at 5PM today when the vessel departs the harbour, today marks the vessel's only scheduled visit to Prince Rupert for 2023

A sister ship, the Holland America Line Nieuw Amsterdam makes a port call on Thursday, May 18

Cruise and tourism officials have ten days now to review and regroup with the next port call at the Prince Rupert Cruise Terminal set for the 14th of May when the Princess Lines return to the city, with the Ruby Princess destined for an 8AM rendezvous.

That will give tour guides an opportunity to come up with an urban myth about the Excavation site in the Cow Bay Area and a bit of urban reconstruction that had a few visitors taking a peek at as they wandered the attractions of the district.

Fortunately for the visitors and those working the patio at Dolly's, today appears to have been a quiet day on the worst.

More notes on the Cruise Sector can be reviewed here.
