It's one of the biggest signs of Spring for Prince Rupert and one of its biggest events as well.
The BC Annual Dance Competition a showcase event at the Lester Centre of the Arts that this year marks a significant milestone for the highly regarded celebration of Dance.
The Event one that has built back up from the times of COVID to bring forward a full complement of Dancers for the week long celebration of Dance.
When the first dancers hit the stage at the Lester on Sunday, they will be kicking of the 35th year for the Competition which brings some of the top dancers in the province and beyond to Prince Rupert for the one week showcase.
The Schedule of events features three segments per day at 9AM, 12:30 PM and 6PM
The Six days lead up to the Annual Gala which takes place on Saturday May 13th.
The annual event is one that provides for cash prizes for a range of categories and features the results of months and years of work by the dancers who travel from out of town as well as the local dancers who are the most familiar with the Lester Stage.
Tickets for the six nights of competition are five dollars for the daytime segments, eight dollars for nighttime performances.
The Gala on Saturday, May 13th has a price set at 35 dollars Regular, 15 dollars for students.
The Saturday event also features a Pre Gala Party with refreshments and Hot d'curves which takes place at 6PM
