Jared McMillian from the Prince Rupert Golf Course had a successful trip to the Okanagan in May claiming second place in the Youth Division of the First Ever BC Indigenous Provincial championships |
A local youth golfer is off to represent Team BC at an upcoming challenge match with Team Ontario.
The Prince Rupert Golf Club celebrated one of its own employees on Friday, hailing the success of Jared McMillan, who when he isn't working in the golf shop can tear up a golf course with the best of them.
Mr. McMillan took part in the Inaugural BC Indigenous Provincial championships at the Premier NK'Mip Canyon Desert Golf Course at Oliver BC,
The debut for the event marking the start of a three party partnership, which includes British Columbia Golf, the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia and the Osoyoos Indian Band.
The tournament took place from May 28th to the 30th.
The skills that the young Prince Rupert golfer took with him to the Okanagan earned him a second place finish, quite the achievement for the youngest participant at the event.
His next stop the challenge match with Ontario.
