Waterfront Emergency Response training set for Friday

(Video above is from a Port related exercise from September 2022)

The area which normally welcomes visitors to the North Coast oniony off Cruise Ships will shift to an emergency response setting on Friday, that as the Prince Rupert Port Authority and Emergency Responders in the city combine forces towards some emergency preparedness.

Set for areas in and around the Prince Rupert Cruise Terminal, Atlin Terminal and promenade area, the exercise comes during a week off from the usual hustle and bustle of the area when Cruise ships arrive.

The exercise period is planned to take place from 7AM to 12:30 on Friday. The City noted yesterday that iw was advised to avoid the area if possible during the course of the exercise.

The training event provides for an emergency scenario which requires a response both from the water and on the shore and provides some valuable opportunities for Port staff and Emergency Responders to see where improvement can be made to their response plan.

The Port Authority outlined the scope of the work through their Social Media Stream.
