Participants in Carlo Paolinelli Memorial Tourney hit the ice this weekend for thee days of play


The Jim Ciccone Civic Centre is turned over to the Old Timers and
Women hockey players of the Northwest this weekend. With a strong turnout
ahead for the long running 
Carlo Paolinelli Memorial Oldtimers Tournament.


A weekend of hockey celebrating the memory of a long time fixture in recreational hockey in Prince Rupert gets underway today with th 23rd Anniversary edition of the Carlo Paolinelli Memorial Oldtimers Tournament.

The event a celebration of the spirit of the game following the passing of the long time Prince Rupert recreation league player who was highly regarded among those he played with and against.

The three days ahead will feature both Old Timers and Women's hockey on the ice at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre Arena with teams from around the Northwest and Haida Gwaii here to challenge the local teams.

Prince Rupert's Wheelhouse  will break the ice of the tourney at 5 PM Friday night taking on Terrace, with 19 more games to come before Sunday afternoon brings an end to the event.

In addition to the hockey of the weekend, there is a Tournament Social on Friday evening in the Eagle Room from 6PM to 12:30 AM

Saturday night sees things shift over the Civic Centre Auditorium for the celebration for the weekend, the event feature Triple Bypass as the House Band for events.

Doors Open at 7 PM, admission is 25 dollars.
