School Board candidates forum set for October 11 at Javadotcup

Parents, guardians and others with an interest in education in Prince Rupert and Port Edward will want to keep October 11th in mind, with an opportunity to learn more at a public forum about the race for School Board in the region,

The thirteen candidates for the School District 52 School Board election will have their first opportunity to discuss the issues as part of a Candidates Forum next Thursday evening at Javadotcup on Third Avenue West.

The 90 minute forum which starts at 7PM is hosted and sponsored by the Prince Rupert and District Teachers Union and District Parent Action Committee will have CBC Daybreak North's Carolina de Ryk serving as the moderator for the night.

Through the hour and a half, Ms. de Ryk will guide the candidates through their statements, offer discussion themes and take questions from the audience.

The list of candidates for the School District race includes all five current incumbents along with a mix of newcomers to School Board race and a few who have put their names forward in the past.

Among the list of those seeking your vote in the City of Prince Rupert Voting on October 20th include incumbents:

James Horne, Terri-Lynne Huddlestone, Bart Kuntz, Tina Last, Louisa Sanchez

As well as the challengers for the 2018 race:

Dave Cook, Al Ernst, Steve Finningan Jr., Kristy Maier, Jessica Newman and  Kate Toye

Also on the ballot for School District are two candidates for the Rural seat, with incumbent Janet Beil and challenger Joanne Lewis Dudoward also seeking election to office.

Six representatives from the Prince Rupert list and one from the rural list will be elected as part of the Municipal vote on October 20th.
