Sunshine, History and Science all combined for a fairly impressive opening weekend for one of the North Coast's top tourist attractions, as the North Pacific Cannery Historical Site opened up for the 2014 season with a very popular weekend event.
North Pacific hosted a Community Science Celebration this past weekend, as Science World set up shop inside the historic buildings of the site, offering a variety of science themed presentations through the afternoon.
Along with Science World were a number of community based groups and organizations who participated in the day of exploration, which judging by the pictures posted to the Cannery Museum's photo site, provided a full day of enjoyment for large crowds.
It was an impressive kick off to the 125th Anniversary of North Pacific and towards that milestone the site has a number of events planned through the summer.
Included in their summer of celebration is a Regional Heritage Fair to be held later this month and a celebration of all of those that once worked at the Cannery when it was an operational fish cannery.
In June North Pacific will be hosting a Cannery Reunion, which promises to be another impressive event for residents and visitors alike to participate in.
You can find out more about what North Pacific has planned for the 2014 tourist season from their website.
Updates on developments at the Historic site are also available from their twitter feed.
For those that didn't make it out to North Pacific this past weekend, the North Pacific Cannery photo page provides a glimpse of some of the events of the day.
