Air Canada Flight Service to Prince Rupert, Smithers and Sandspit to remain suspended until May 31st

The Terrace Airport remains as the only commercial aviation link
for the Northwest, as Air Canada announces the continued
suspension of Service to Prince Rupert and other communities

Those residents of the region who need to travel in and out of the Northwest by air will have only one option for another month.

That as Air Canada extends its suspension of flights to Prince Rupert and other Northwest locations until the end of May.

The announcement was released by the airline today, leaving the Terrace Airport as the only one remaining in service during the course of this COVID emergency.

According to the Air Canada advisory, the flight schedule out of Terrace will see 4 flights per week, which follows the same schedule as is currently in place.

In addition to Prince Rupert, the communities of Smithers and Sandspit also will see airport commercial flight operations suspended through to the end of May.

The original cancellation of flights in and out of the Digby Island Airport was announced on March 18th, with the last flights taking place on March 25th.

At the time of the original suspension, the City of Prince Rupert announced that Prince Rupert airport operations would be on an essential service level, with a reduced schedule in place for transit to and from Digby Island.

The city has not updated their plans on Airport Operations since that time.
