Mail in ballots change the final totals, but not the results for Northwest BC

The Mail has been counted and the final results for all but one 
of the province's electoral districts are now officially recorded

The last ballot has been counted in the Northwest from the October 26th Provincial election, with the mail in  ballot count coming to an end on Sunday and the Final Official results delivered by Elections BC.

Across the region, Skeena was the only riding that had even a slim chance of change from the mail in data owing to the volume of mail in ballots to be counted.

However, the margin of victory stayed solidly in the hands of incumbent Ellis Ross, with the BC Liberal MLA holding his seat by a margin of almost 7.6%. With Mr. Ross receiving 5,810 votes at the final tally, while the NDP's Nicole Halbauer received the support of 4,961 voters.

Around the rest of the region North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice added another 650 ballots to her vote total of 3,894 from October 26th, marking her final tally that of 4,544 ballots cast. BC Liberal candidate Roy S Jones gained an additional 211 votes from last month, while BC Libertarian Jody Craven gained another 29 mail in ballots.

785 mail in ballots were delivered for Nathan Cullen in Stikine, while Gordon Sebastion of the BC Liberals received the support of 307 mail in electors.

Incumbent BC Liberal John Rustad gained an additional 491 votes from the mail in process in Nechako Lakes, his NDP challenger was the next highest recipient of mail in votes with 437 counted.

One final contest is still to be settled, owing to the close numbers found in the riding of West Vancouver-Sea to Sky, the final tally for that riding won't be announced until a judicial recount is held.
