West side power outage leaves close to 700 customers in the dark

Power has been out for the Sloan/Kootenay area
of the city's west side for much of the morning so far

For those living in Prince Rupert's far west end in the Sloan/Kootneay area the day is making for a frustrating one, with morning breakfasts and coffees off the list unless the BBQ has been called into service.

A power outage has been ongoing since 2 AM today, with BC Hydro now conducting work on their equipment to bring that area of the city back online. Close to 700 customers have been affected by the outage

The latest update from Hydro is for a return to hydro service for 1 PM

You can keep up to date on the timeline for service here.

Power interruptions during the week hop scotched across the city, with brierfpower bumps kicking the power off in a number of locations.

Earlier this week, a significant power outage took place across the entire city.
