MLA's Week: May 1-4, 2023



The week was a light one for participation of the members of the Northwest, mostly made up of introductions of guests in the gallery.

Outside of the Legislature Chamber there were some themes of interest from the Provincial scene of note for the Northwest.

The Attorney Generals' office outlined the details to a recent recognition of service ceremony for the provinces Sheriffs, including two from the Prince Rupert Courthouse


Also of some significance from the Provincial scene, were some notes from Prince Rupert Mayor Herb Pond related to the progress for the proponents of the Resource Benefits Alliance


As for more on the recent week of work from the House, the four days unfolded as follows:

On the week, Ms Rice was mentioned twice for the week in the  Legislature from May 1-4, 2023.

Tuesday morning the North Coast MLA introduced a guest from the North Coast, Michael Jenson who was in the gallery ( see 11:03 of video )

Ms. Rice also spoke in the Legislature to pay tribute to the work of the Public Accounts Committee on Tuesday,


Ms. Rice was active on her Social media stream, noting of some of the government initiatives of the week

The North Coast MLA is also a member of the Following committees:





The MLA Is also Deputy Chair of the Select Standing Committee on Public Accounts 

Ms. Rice serves as the Government's Parliamentary Secretary for Rural health.

The North Coast MLA also addressed a range of themes and relayed  a number of government announcements through her Social Media Stream.

For our readers from the Terrace-Kitimat region, Skeena MLA Ellis Ross  was mentioned once in the record for the week in the Legislature from May 1-4, 2023.

Mr. Ross serves as the Liberal critic on LNG and Energy

The Skeena MLA has not been named to any of the Standing Committees for this session.


The Skeena MLA also addressed a range of themes  featured as part of the MLA's social media work.

For our readers from the Bulkley Valley area, Stikine MLA Nathan Cullen  was mentioned once  in the record for the week in the  Legislature from May 1-4, 2023.

As part of the Tuesday morning session, Mr. Cullen introduced a number of guests in the Legislature gallery  ( see video at 10:08 AM


Mr. Cullen serves as the Government's Minister of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship.

The Stikine MLA also had comments on a range of themes through his Social Media stream this week
