Seafest Parade to bring Third Avenue Road Closure Saturday

Saturday brings us the Seafest Parade,  it makes for the main piece to Seafest Weekend, and provides for over an hour of celebration of the North Coast as community groups and organizations put their floats into motion, bands strike up some notes and dancers dance their way along Third Avenue West.

The journey celebrating all that is under the Sea travels along Third West running from Seventh Street to 1st Street at Northern Savings Credit Union. 

Things get rolling starting ay 11 AM, the last parade entry signalling the start of the Days activities along Third Avenue West which becomes the centre for most of the Seafest Activities for the day.

Of note for the Downtown activities the schedule available here and posted below provides a glimpse of many of the activities to be found along Third Avenue West and surrounding side streets during Seafest Saturday.

With the Parade and Street activities of Saturday comes the need for Road Closures, the City of Prince Rupert has outlined the scope of those for Saturday on. Third, as well as what's ahead on Sunday when the science shifts to the Cow Bay/Atlin Terminal area the waterfront focused element of Seafest 2023.

For those that may not be able to make it to the Parade on Saturday, CityWest has recruited Lonnie Wishart to be their roving camera for the event, providing for a  video archive of the event.

Of some interest from the Special Events Society on the topic of parades, is word that next year will see the return of the longer route for the parade. 

That return to the traditional experience will give some additional time for residents to enjoy the community effort involved in launching the adventure each year.
