Work well underway for new ILWU Hall in Prince Rupert

The construction site at First Avenue West and Eighth Street adjacent to the Highliner Hotel is a pretty active place these days, with much of the preparation work for the new ILWU Building well underway.

The plans for the new hall which were announced in April, will change that corner significantly, along with the visual of the streetscape.

That by way of a three storey structure replacing the iconic hall that once sat deep in the hole along First.

The new hall is a partnership for ILWU 505, which has been joined by the Prince Rupert Port Authority, DP World and the BC Maritime Employers towards the new venture.

The work on site has however has brought a road closure, with Eighth Street Closed at both ends between First Avenue West and Second Avenue West.

Some of our past notes on the work to date can be reviewed below.
