City Council puts focus on Alternative Approval results as topic for Special Council session tonight

The more relaxed City Council scheduling of once a month meetings for the summer may be fully underway, but Council members find themselves returning to work this evening, set to take in what should be a short review of the results of the recent Alternative Approval Process related to a land issue in the Graham Avenue area.

Notice of the Special Regular Council Meeting scheduled for 5 PM was posted to the city website on July 13.

The AAP topic takes up the bulk of the discussion topics on the evening as listed  in the Agenda Package for tonight's meeting.

(See page Page 3 of the Agenda Package)

In addition to receiving the results of the consultation process that the city used related to the topic of land off of Graham Avenue, Council will also be asked to consider moving forward with the sale of the land in question to the Bryton Group.

Since they'll be in council chambers anyways, Council members will also consider any correspondence for action requests, resolutions from closed meetings, bylaws, or other additional items that could be of note.

Council members also have the option to deliver any reports, ask questions or make enquiries of staff as part of the final portion of the evening's agenda.

The call to Council for tonight is an intriguing one, considering City Council has a Public Hearing, Regular meeting and Committee of the Whole session scheduled for Monday July 25th.

The decision to give the AAP process a special review tonight at 5 PM, would seem to indicate that Council members did not wish to add that topic to the list for their Regular Council agenda for next week.
