The witching hour for ghosts and goblins is almost upon us and for the organizers of Prince Rupert's popular Halloween Fest the days are counting down towards the 2016 edition.
Halloween arrives this Monday and from 6 to 8 PM the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre will be haunting central, with Games, Prizes and a Costume Parade just a few of the items on the list of fun for the 29th edition of the annual celebration.
As they have in the past, the Earl Mah Aquatic Centre is also involved in this years event with two themed swims set for the program, with a Children's Swim for those 12 and under set for October 30th from 2 to 4 PM.
A Teen Swim for those 13 to 18 takes place on Halloween Evening from 7 to 10 PM
The Ghostly good times are capped with the annual Fireworks Display at 8:15 PM with Mount Hays making for the backdrop to the night time display of pyrotechnics (weather permitting of course)
Halloween fest is one of the signature events of the year and is put together through the Special Events Society. They receive support from a number of corporate and community sponsors.
Included in the list are The Prince Rupert RCMP, Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue, Local Service Clubs and Volunteers, Save On Foods, Via Rail, Canada Safeway, Northern Savings Credit Union, the City of Prince Rupert and a number of other small businesses in the city.
The project takes a large number of volunteers to pull off and there is always room for more to lend a hand.
