Back in Service! The Spirit of Lax Kw'alaams is once again transiting Tuck Inlet between Prince Rupert and Lax Kw'alaams |
It's time at the Ferry spa at an end, the Spirit of Lax Kw'alaams has returned to the North Coast and is now back in service between Tuck Inlet and Prince Rupert.
The ferry had been in refit over the last two months, with the community making use of a water taxi and barge service for their transportation requirements.
With the Spirit of Lax Kw'alaams back in service, it will now resume its regular Schedule of Sailings.
The Ferry however may not be a fixture on the North Coast scene for much longer, as we noted on the blog in July, the Lax Kw'alaams Band and provincial government have been holding discussions to provide a more modern and larger vessel for service to the community.
No updates on that proposal however have been delivered since the summer.
The return of the ferry comes as work is winding down on the 20 million dollar road improvement project between the community and Tuck Inlet, the latest addition to the road a replacement bridge in early October.
