Deadline approaching for latest round of Northern Health Imagine Grant applications

The current cycle for grant funding from Northern Health's Imagine Grant program is quickly coming to an end, with the deadline for the Fall 2016 process coming up on October 31st.

The program which many groups in Prince Rupert have applied to in the past, provides funding for projects which support community-based initiatives the focus on one or more chronic disease prevention or health promotion priorities.

Among the areas where funding is directed towards are:

Healthy Eating and Food Security
Physical Activity/Active Living
Injury Prevention
Tobacco-Free Communities
Positive Mental Health
Prevention of Substance Harms
Health Early Childhood Development
Health Aging

Preference is given to those projects which support partnerships and build relationships, Identify a community need, Promote healthy outcomes, Reduce health inequities, Build capacity and have a good chance of living on after the funding has come to an end.

Successful applicants from this falls program will hear back from Northern Health by November 21st with the funding for projects to be released by December of 2016.

Any money provided for the successful projects must be put to use by March 31st of 2017.

In April of this year four Prince Rupert groups shared in the first wave of Imagine Grant funding for the year, with the Eagle Eye Archers, École Roosevelt Park Community School, Gitmaxmak'ay Nisga'a Society and SD52 all receiving grants for their projects.

If you miss out on this fall's opportunity, the next stage of the Imagine Grant program comes up in April of 2017.
