Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue, RCMP respond to Civic Centre complex fire Friday

Prince Rupert Firefighters and members of the RCMP were called out to a Friday morning fire at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre complex, responding to a fire in the canteen area of the of complex.

No staff or residents were in the centre at the time owing to the Remembrance Day Closure, an information note from the City of Prince Rupert outlines that with the quick response the fire was contained rapidly. Fire Personnel and RCMP members were able to establish a safety perimeter during the incident.

A number of social media users have provided some video of events as the PRFD crews and RCMP arrived on the scene.

The City is hoping to reopen the facility on Saturday as was scheduled, more information is to be provided later by the City's communication office.
