Rampage Roll On, remain undefeated following 5-2 victory over Nechako Saturday night

The Prince Rupert Rampage picked up where they left off from they recent road trip, bursting out of the gate early in the first period on Saturday night and not looking back.

The Rupert side rattling off four unanswered goals over two periods on their way to a 5-2 victory in front of a good sized crowd of 685 at the Jim.

The Rhinos brought the home crowd to their feet twice in the first seven minutes of play. The first chance to  celebrate coming at 6:23 of the opening frame, when Colten Waldhaus converted assists from Drew Fudger and Jacob Santurbano for the first goal of the night.

The crowd had little time to sit back down before marker number two was on the board, with Judd Repole picking up the goal on an assist from Ben Northcott, the scoring play coming at 6:34.

The scoring spree continued in period two, as Austin Weir hit the twine at 13:50 of the middle frame, assisted by Cole Atchison and Judd Repole.

Goal number four for the Rampage came at 18:13 when Cole Atchison made his mark on the goal sheet, assists going to Austin Weir and Marcus Atchison

The NorthStars finally found the mark in the third, a pair of power play opportunities helping their cause, with the Nechako team cutting the Rampage lead in half by the midway point of the third.

The Rampage put down the rebellion in the last minute of play, that too a power play marker with Brody Ward scoring the night's fifth Rhino goal, assists going to Justin Brand and Judd Repole.

Kieran Sharpe added to his Wins on the season, turning aside all but two of the 18 shots he faced on the night. His success five games into the CIHL season puts him well atop the listings for CIHL goaltenders. featuring a 1.25 GAA and .931% Save percentage.

The Rhino scoring on the night puts Judd Repole and Hunter Johnson in to the top 10 list heading into November.

The win keeps the Rampage atop the CIHL Standings after five games with a league leading Goals For and Against record.

However, the landscape could change by the time the Rampage return to the ice.

Their hot sticks and flying skates will be sidelined for much of November, with the Rhinos on a schedule hiatus until November 25th.

And when they return, the task aheads will loom large. 

With the two Cariboo teams making their run to the North Coast with the Quensel Kangaroos in town Friday, November 25, the Williams Lake Stampeders in on the Saturday evening.
