City of Prince Rupert seeking out next Customer Service Manager

An opportunity to help out the administrative team at City Hall is available for those looking to the field of civic employment for their next career move.

With the City of Prince Rupert posting the Full Time position of Customer Service Manager to their careers page recently.

The position which is union exempt reports to the Planning Manager and oversees and assists the Customer Service team in performing their job duties, such as responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues or complaints.

  1. The last two administrative postings from the city makes this reader question two things. Basic organization, and innovation at 424 3 Ave.

    In regards to basic organization, it seems like the strategy is to throw more bodies at routine things like overseeing schedules, calendars and acting as gatekeepers for senior administrative staff and council.

    As for being innovative, the recent job postings are anything but. Optics wise, they simply add to the bloat at City Hall and add little value to taxpayers.

    Why is City Hall not looking at solutions to automate the basics, improve efficiencies and add value to residents instead of simply adding to the payroll and head count.

    Surely there is civic software that the city can take advantage of to streamline some of the mundane administrative tasks.
    Other municipalities appear to be more innovative and easier to communicate with.
