Prince Rupert Lions Club making final preparations for 2022 Blue Knuckle Derby on December 27th

With the Arctic outflow winds starting to be pushed back by an oncoming Pacific weather system, the conditions will be a bit warmer for those taking to the water on Tuesday, December 27th as the Prince Rupert Lions once again launch their traditional Holiday event the Blue Knuckle Derby. 

This  year's Derby marking its 30th year of community fishing and contribution.

The event is held each year in memory of of Marc Desautels and Jeff Carlson features fishing from daylight to dusk in the tidal waters of the Prince Rupert area.

Weigh in takes place on Tuesday at the Canfisco Parking Lot on George Hills way at the Foot of Drydock Road. 

Weigh in times for 2022 run from 3-6 PM.

The successful ones on the water on Tuesday will hear of their prizes by way of a Facebook Live broadcast through the Lions Social Media page.

Earlier today, the Lions provided an update on their plans, through that Social media feed.

As the Prince Rupert Lions note, they've been busy updating the prize list and selling some fashion accessories for the 2022 event, you can follow their planning to date and view the award presentation on Tuesday here.

Proceeds from the Blue Knuckle Derby go towards support for a number of groups and organizations in Prince Rupert and the surrounding communities.
