Friday State of Local Emergency Update notes of two new watermain breaks overnight, since resolved, progress in other areas

The hectic pace of work for City work crews and those firms contracted out by the city to address the ongoing water infrastructure breaks has not let up, with City officials noting of two new waterman breaks overnight, though fortunately the situation taken care of quickly by the workforce in place at the moment.

The Friday update from City Hall also notes that the Local State of Emergency remains in effect today with appraisals of the situation delivered to the province through the day.

The City is reporting that two additional watermain breaks occurred overnight, however thanks to a quick response time from crews, necessary repairs to the watermains have now been conducted.

Crews were also able to isolate the breaks and retain water service to homes in impacted areas.

The State of Local Emergency remains in effect today, with the Emergency Operations Centre continuing to liaise with contacts at Emergency Management BC and local supports to keep all necessary parties appraised of local conditions.

Thanks to the quick response time of both City and contracted crews on last night’s breaks, 1st Ave East is currently the only remaining active water main break.

There remain 5 active City service breaks, and approximately 13 known service breaks or freezing on the homeowner side.

The remainder of today's update puts a focus on the current snowfall in the region as well as to some home  preparation notes related to the plumbing to the home of residents.
