Cold Weather, closes the books on Library services today

For the second day in a row, the Arctic Outflow conditions have kept Prince Rupert readers from their books and other library services at the House of Reading.

As it was yesterday, the Prince Rupert Library at Sixth West and McBride has closed its doors for the day, the cold temperatures making conditions to the point where the library felt best to keep everyone at home.

The Library has faced a number of challenges in recent years, it was closed in January owing to a frozen drainpipe which developed a leak.

One year ago brought the need for Boiler repairs, a program of repair approved by Council at the time.

The Public Library has often be a subject of discussion towards replacement by City Council, but as with many areas for the city, that decision has been deferred in recent years.

For patrons this week, the Blue Bin collection Box will be available for those looking to drop off any items that they have borrowed.

The original closure schedule (without Cold Weather concerns) has the Library Closed for the holidays from December 24-27.

Follow the Library's Social media feed towards further updates on their status this week.

The list of all civic closures over the holidays can be explored here.
