Aleutians rumble with 6.1 quake, but No Tsunami warning generated for BC Coast

A fairly significant rattle for Alaskans this morning, with a 6.1 magnitude earthquake recorded in the Aleutian Island chain at 10:40 AM British Columbia time.

The epicentre was far from any large population centres in Alaska and while a strong temblor, the Tsunami Warning Centre does not believe any concerns exist for Alaska, British Columbia or the lower US states.

More notes on past seismic events of interest for the North Coast and Haida Gwaii can be explored here.
