City Council Preview, Monday, January 12,2015
For Prince Rupert City Council, tonight marks the first time since the start of December that the newly elected Council will meet in a Regularly scheduled session.
The last Regular gathering was inauguration night of December 1st, and while they did meet twice in mid December in Special Session, December 15 and December 17, those sessions for most part provided opportunity to pass increases in recreation fees and land fill rates, as well as to make some preliminary planning for 2015.
The extended break through the holiday season, marked Prince Rupert as one of the last of the municipal council's in the province to get back to work, as the accounts of the Civic Info website highlight over the last ten days or so.
Tonight however it's back to work, with a first agenda for the new year that will mark the first full night of work since those December meetings.
For their return to the Council Chambers, Council will participate in a Presentation from Mayor Brain regarding the nomination of Mr. Adrian Liu for the 2014 Civic Merit Award.
