Rainmakers look to take flight at Pitt Meadows tourney

Another chance to gain some notice from Vancouver's fanatic basketball audience is here for the Charles Hays Rainmakers, as the Senior Boy's squad take to the court in Pitt Meadows this afternoon taking part in the annual Pitt Meadows Air Show.

The high profile Vancouver tournament is the second major journey of the year for the CHSS squad who spent four days in North Vancouver in December, their success in North Vancouver paving the way to a number three ranking in the Provincial AAA rankings for the rest of December and into January until yesterday.

The most recent rankings posted to the Province Newspaper's website yesterday found the Rainmakers dropping down one spot to fourth heading into this weekend's tournament.

Making their stop over in Vancouver through to Sunday another opportunity to give the selection panel pause to reconsider their rankings for their next announcement.

The Rainmakers open up the tournament today against the team that now holds their old spot at number three in the rankings, with a tip off against Charles Tupper Secondary set for 1:15.

How the Rainmakers progress for the rest of the weekend will be determined by the result of today's match up.

On Wednesday evening, the Rainmakers took on the AAAA level Terry Fox Ravens in an exhibition match up, with the highly acclaimed Port Coquitlam squad taking a victory over CHSS by a score of 82-38. With two starters sitting out the tune up game, the Rainmaker squad relied on its bench for the most part of the valuable measuring stick match up.

Also taking part in the Air Show this weekend is Haida Gwaii's Queen Charlotte Secondary School Saints, they open up the tournament later this evening against Collingwood.
