RCMP seek public's assistance in Robbery of Henry's B-Y market

Prince Rupert RCMP are investigating a weekend robbery on the east side of the city and are looking for the assistance of the public as they continue with their work on the case file.

At approximately 2 PM on Sunday afternoon the Prince Rupert detachment of the RCMP received a report of a robbery at Henry's B-Y market in the 1000 block of Hays Cover Avenue.

The suspect wearing a mask approached the clerk at the counter while brandishing a knife and demanded money from the cash register, when the clerk fled from behind the counter, the suspect left the store on foot. No injuries were reported as part of the robbery.

It was not made clear in a media release from the RCMP  how much cash was involved in the incident.

The suspect is described as First Nations, in his early 20's with a slim build, he was wearing a black hoodie and black pants at the time of the robbery. He was last seen crossing 8th Avenue East behind a house after leaving the store.

"Even though no one was physically injured during this robbery police are seeking the public's assistance in the event someone witnessed anyone suspicious in the area" -- Sgt. Jagdev Uppal of the Prince Rupert RCMP with details on a robbery in the city on Sunday afternoon.
