The Nisga'a Nation government announced its plans for the Gitlaxdax Nisga'a Terrace Society last week, with the programs and services that previously been provided by the NLG Programs and Services office having now transitioned to the new Society.
Over the last several months Keith Azak and Marianne Stanley Ward have been working to take the necessary steps to establish the society under the BC Societies Act.
The location for the Society will be 101 - 4441 Laekelse Avenue, and that is where the Nisga'a of Terrace and area can access programs and services.

The creation of the Terrace society marks the third such Society formed, with Prince Rupert/Port
In Prince Rupert, the work of Gitmakmak'ayk Nisga'a Society has created for a range of economic spin off benefits for the local members, with the Rupert Lawn and Garden Centre the focal point for some of the projects that have come forward as part of their efforts.
The Society also offers a range of social and cultural programming for its members and the larger Prince Rupert community.
Some of the work in place in Prince Rupert, could make for some strong ideas for expansion for the Terrace group as they get their footing in their new venture.
