Residents of the Terrace area can now make use of the local detachment's online crime reporting program to advise police on a range of additional offences.
The online tool is described by the Terrace RCMP as one that helps police: better allocate resources and capture information that may otherwise go unreported. While not meant to replace calling the police for assistance, this tool is an alternate way for the public to report less serious local crime.
Among the new additions to the list of offences that you can report are Driving Complaints and Stolen Licence Plates or decals.
The original list of offences you can report through the online mechanism are:
Damage/Mischief to property where the value is under; $5000Hit & run to property or an unoccupied vehicle;
Theft of a bicycle where the value is under $5000;
Theft of other property where the value is under $5000;
Theft from a vehicle where the value is under $5000;
Lost property
More background on the conditions that must be met in order to file a report can be explored here.
Prince Rupert RCMP also have an online reporting program in place, however at the moment the list of items you can report is less than those in Terrace.
