An increase of One COVID report for Prince Rupert area, as largest spike for December 13-19 found in the Smithers area


Prince Rupert's case count of COVID-19 continues to remain low
compared to many communities of the Northwest

The weekly release of Local Health Data related to COVID-19 saw just one new entry for the Prince Rupert area for the week of December 13-19 , which increases the Prince Rupert total case level to 14 reported cases since the start of the pandemic in January.

The BC Centre for Disease control only recently began sharing the data on a weekly basis culled from Local Health Authority reports.

Across the Northwest, the cases reported from December 13 to 19 were as follows.

For the week increases were found in the Smithers and Terrace areas.

Smithers -- 29
Nechako --
 27
Terrace -- 27
Burns Lake -- 11
Upper Skeena -- 4
Kitimat -- 2
Nisga'a Valley -- 1

The Snow Country-Stikine-Telegraph Creek area lists 1 case of COVID from the week.


The Bella Coola Valley and Haida Gwaii had no new case counts to report for the reporting period.
