Latest Local Health Data release indicates COVID Counts remain low for Prince Rupert Region

The weekly release of Local Health Data related to COVID-19 saw no new entries for the Prince Rupert area for the week of December 6 to 12, which leaves the Prince Rupert total case level at 13 reported cases since the start of the pandemic in January.

The BC Centre for Disease control only recently began sharing the data on a weekly basis culled from Local Health Authority reports.

Across the Northwest, the cases reported from December 6 to 12 were as follows.

Nechako -- 43
Terrace -- 22
Upper Skeena -- 9
Smithers -- 8
Burns Lake -- 7
Nisga'a Valley -- 4
Kitimat -- 2

The Snow Country-Stikine-Telegraph Creek area lists 1 case of COVID from the week

In addition to Prince Rupert, the Bella Coola Valley and Haida Gwaii had no new case counts to report.

The Kitimat numbers will surely increase with next Wednesday's report, that after a second outbreak was reported from the LNG Canada project, this one related to transportation to and from the work site.
