A Monday evening fire call kept Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue crews busy with firefighters responding to early evening reports of smoke inside a commercial building in the 800 block of Third Avenue West.

The details of the response from the Prince Rupert Fire Rescue Facebook page provide a glimpse into the work on the night for the responding crews, with the fire quickly upgraded to a working structure fire.

A quick attack contained the fire to a small area, impacting on two separate commercial locations the P and P Restaurant and the Prince Rupert Unemployed Action Centre.

The rapid work of the fire responders kept the damage to both to a minimum, though interruptions to their business activities is anticipated for the next few days.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported from the incident and while an investigation is underway, the fire is not considered suspicious in nature.

The work of the First Avenue Fire hall Responders was clearly appreciated by those impacted by the incident, with a shout out from the Unemployment Action centre included as part of the comments to the PRFD Social media stream.
